Burns' Night

Burns' Night celebrates the life and work of Robert Burns. The Scottish tradition began in July 1801 when Burns' close friends got together to mark the fifth anniversary of their friends death. This included a tasty meal (haggis), performances of Burns work and a speech in honour of the great poet.

About the Event

As part of the celebrations on the night, we have what they call a 'Toast to the Lassies,' followed by a 'Reply to the Toast to the Lassies,' a performance or skit where the Lads (boys) through wit and polite humour describe the Lassies (girls) and in return, the lassies lovingly offer their retort to the lads. If you felt you missed out on some CSU gossip, this event will surely get you back up to speed! (Of course, this is all performed respectfully!)

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
